Calangute Forum meets sarpanch, discusses village issues

Calangute:  A delegation from Calangute Constituency Forum on Friday met the newly elected Calangute sarpanch Joseph Sequeira and held discussions on various issues pertaining to the village. 

They submitted 19 points on the village development plan to the sarpanch covering issues like protection of low-lying areas, hills, women’s safety, assistance to senior citizens, illegal construction, etc.

Sarpanch Sequeira assured the delegation to place all the proposals before the gram sabha for discussion and get them resolved.  

Premanand Diukar, president of Calangute Constituency Forum suggested that the policy of sustainable development be implemented and extended full support and cooperation in planning the village development. “This panchayat will be people-friendly and transparent but we need some time to clear the mess created by the last body and need to start from scratch as the treasury is empty. I will make every effort to regain the glory of our village and address all issues raised by the people,” the Sarpanch said.

Clotildes Braganca- PRO of Calangute Constituency Forum questioned the sarpanch on illegal constructions and what action will be taken on the illegal construction of houses and roads on the hills and fields.
