Truck driver held for dumping garbage in Calangute field

MAPUSA: The Calangute police on Tuesday arrested a truck driver for dumping garbage in a road side field and also seized his vehicle which was involved in the illegality.    

Police have identified the truck driver as Sagar Ramesh Chavan, 26, a native of Kalaburgi district and attached the vehicle bearing registration No GA-03-T-1727 for allegedly dumping garbage mixed with mud in the field.

A written complaint had been lodged by the Calangute Sarpanch on September 18  that a truck was allegedly dumping garbage in a field and also annexed a coloured photograph of the truck and its driver as corroborative evidence while committing the offence.

The police later arrested the driver under section 34 (v) of the Police Act, 1861.
